The Effect of Metals on Thermal Regeneration of Granular Activated Carbon
نویسنده
چکیده
BACKGROUND The primary role of granular activated carbon (GAC) in water treatment is to adsorb organic compounds that could potentially harm humans or impart tastes and odors. Several hundred water utilities in the United States and Europe use GAC for this purpose. While the GAC is in service, however, it can also accumulate metals, either by precipitation or by adsorption of metal-organic complexes.

Chemical Regeneration of Exhausted Granular Activated Carbon Used in Citric Acid Fermentation Solution Decoloration
An improved chemical regeneration of the granular activated carbon (GAC) exhausted by the color (pigments and pollutants) from citric acid fermentation solution (CAF) was investigated. In the experiments, improved means were adopted to advance the traditional chemical regenerating method and the adsorption capacity of the first time renewed GAC is 103% of original GAC. Using oxidan...

The chemical regeneration of granular activated carbon exhausted in a petrochemical wastewater unit was investigated. Gas chromatography and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy demonstrated that spent activated carbon carries large types of organic and inorganic materials. Diverse chemical solvents were adopted in comparison with traditional chemical solvents and regeneration efficiency was in...

The adsorption properties and mechanics of selected endocrine disrupting compounds; 17 β-estradiol, 17 α – ethinylestradiol and bisphenol A on locally available black tea leaves waste and granular activated carbon were investigated. The results obtained indicated that the kinetics of adsorption were pH, adsorbent dose, contact time and temperature dependent with equilibrium being reached at 20 ...
